About Anna

From a young age, my inquisitive nature led me to an in-depth study of various eastern and western philosophies. This has enhanced my capacity to provide a holistic approach when working with my clients.

During my fifteen-year career working within the psychology field, I have trained and become proficient in a range of contemporary evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Therapy and Solution Focused Training. In addition, I incorporate current approaches found within neuroscience, Positive Psychology, eastern philosophy and meditation/relaxation practices.

Away from work, I enjoy long walks in nature and have an affinity with water – I love being immersed either in a pool or the ocean. Swimming is a form of meditation for me.

Music is a big part of my life and I enjoy listening to and discovering new music – even better, live music! I enjoy getting lost in a good book or movie, the creative process of writing, cooking delicious meals (and cakes!) and I’ve been known to dabble in painting for the pure fun of it.

Above all else, my passion and calling is to research all things related to the human spirit and what propels us forward.

My Therapeutic Approach

Holistic Psychological Therapy focuses on the entire spectrum of a human being including the mind, body and spiritual connection.

When these deeper layers are explored during therapy, clients develop a more enriched level of self-awareness which supports them on their journey towards empowerment, growth, self-acceptance and the cultivation of inner wisdom. Traditional therapy throughout the 20th century typically focused on the management of symptoms and less on addressing the underlying causes for certain presentations. Whilst this can be helpful, it doesn’t benefit everyone.

Working holistically can assist in identifying issues that are more complex or relate to several areas of life. For example, it is not uncommon for clients who are emotionally distressed to experience muscle tension, poor sleep and physical pain; they may even experience a loss of meaning in their life. Thus, addressing the psychological, physical and spiritual dimensions of each individual is essential in developing a deeper sense of belonging and overall well-being.

I work collaboratively with my clients and tailor my therapeutic approach according to their individual needs and personality in a way that is solution focused and empowering.  Individual clients have different needs; some may need one or two sessions to work through a specific issue or simply wish to have a therapist to ‘hold them accountable’ for the changes they are aiming to achieve. On the other hand, some clients may prefer more regular sessions. Within our first session, we will have the opportunity to discuss your therapeutic goals and needs.

I relate to my clients with compassion, acceptance, safety, warmth, and curiosity.

I am also direct, practical and will gently challenge, when necessary, to inspire your further growth. I believe that it takes a level of courage and commitment to take the first step on the therapeutic journey. As long as you are ready to actively participate in your own healing, it is possible to shift the trajectory of what was initially thought as a predetermined state of being to an improved and expansive state of consciousness.
